Signature Features

What sets Probeam CT Viewer apart
from legacy CT software

VolumeGraphics and Zeiss are powerful. They are also expensive, require specialist training, and were built for labs that live in them full-time. Probeam CT Viewer was built for the engineer who receives scan data and needs to understand it — fast, without a manual.

Signature feature · HD View

See everything. Adjust nothing.

Industrial CT produces 16-bit data — over 65,000 shades of grey. Your monitor displays 256. In every other CT viewer, this forces you to constantly drag Window/Level sliders: open them for the dense metal casing, drag again for the light polymer insert, drag again for the air gap. It never stops.

HD View solves this permanently. A real-time multi-scale local contrast algorithm compresses the full 16-bit dynamic range into a single, razor-sharp viewport. Dense steel and lightweight plastics, simultaneously, in the same view, with no adjustment needed.

Toggle on with one click. Works across all four viewports simultaneously. No presets to configure, no histogram to interpret — just the data, visible.

Signature feature · Advanced layouts

Layout 2 · Radial slicer

Pivot. Sweep. Find it.

Set a pivot point at the centre of any rotationally symmetric part and sweep a slicing plane 360° with your scroll wheel. The fastest way to navigate a complex cross-section — gears, stators, machined bores, or any part where you need to find a feature position quickly.

Layout 3 · Cylindrical unroll

Unwrap the cylinder.

Digitally unrolls a cylindrical object — pipe, battery, circular weld — into a flat 2D strip. Projection thickness controls let you average multiple radial layers into a single noise-free view. Weld seams, electrode interfaces, and circumferential defects become immediately visible in one flat image.

Layout 4 · Freeform block slicer

Follow any path.

Draw spline curves tracing any complex 3D internal path — cooling channels, AM lattices, turbine blade internals — and the software instantly flattens that winding path into a straight, inspectable 2D strip. The only tool built for geometries that refuse to lie flat.

Signature feature · Grid Density Heatmap

Which zone of this casting is worst?

Most CT software tells you where individual defects are. The grid heatmap answers the question process engineers actually ask: which region of this part has the highest defect concentration?

Divide the scan volume into a user-defined 3D grid. For each cell, the software calculates the volumetric ratio of defects to solid material and renders a colour-coded heatmap directly onto the CT slices. Hot zones are immediately visible. No manual counting. No arbitrary ROI placement.

Directly actionable for foundry and moulding process engineers — hot zones map back to shrinkage locations, gate positions, and cooling rates. Fix the process, not just the part.

Analysis Tools

Automated detection.
One click, full volume.

GPU-accelerated algorithms behind a clean interface. The most common analyses run in seconds, without configuration.

One-click pore detection

Powerball · Magic Pores

Press F12, right-click and drag to draw a sphere around any porous region. Hit Magic. The software reads the local histogram, finds the material and air peaks, calculates optimal thresholds, and runs GPU pore detection — all automatically. Every pore inside the sphere is found, labelled, and measured in seconds.

Full population statistics

Particle & pore shape analysis

Every disconnected particle or pore is individually identified and characterised: equivalent diameter, sphericity, min/max Feret diameter, volume, surface area, and distance to nearest surface. Population histograms and sortable summary tables generated across the full volume — not a sample, the complete dataset.

One-click PDF export

Markups & reporting

Add measurement lines, angles, arrows, and text annotations directly in the viewport — linked to exact 3D coordinates, fading as you scroll away. Save up to 10 view states (P0–P9). One click generates a PDF report compiling every saved view with its annotations, measurements, and notes at 1:1 resolution.

Advanced detection — Hessian cracks · VDG P202 · Dual-threshold hysteresis · Morphology ↓ Show

For specialist needs: Hessian-based crack detection, VDG P202 standard porosity classification, dual-threshold hysteresis segmentation, and morphology-driven defect grouping — all available behind the same one-click workflow.

How it works

Your data, delivered.
Ready to open.

No portal. No proprietary viewer locked to a report. You receive the scan itself.

Scan complete

Probeam scans and analyses your part.

Your part is scanned, reconstructed, and analysed. Defects, measurements, and findings are annotated directly in the scan data. You receive a link — no account required.

What you receive

Three files. Everything you need.

The download contains the CT Viewer executable, the volume data, and the H5 sidecar — an open-format file containing all markups, measurements, bookmarks, and view states from the analysis.

EXE ProbeamCTViewer.exe · 120 MB · no install
VOL part_scan.vol · volume data
H5 part_scan.h5 · analysis & markups

Open & explore

Launch. Land on P0. Start exploring.

Double-click the EXE — no installation, no IT ticket. The scan opens on P0: the view preset to the key finding. Every measurement, annotation, and bookmark from the Probeam analysis is already there. The H5 is yours to keep: open it in any HDF5-compatible tool, share it with your lab, build on it.
